Specialized Wires for Windings and SELV Applications
Rubadue Wire offers wires for the transformer and power supply market with basic, supplemental or reinforced levels of isolation. We do this by apply either a single, double, or triple layers of insulation. Rubadue’s commitment to helping our customers find the best wiring solution led to our development of Triple Insulated Wire, which opened up numerous design possibilities for engineers.
Rubadue Wires TIW was designed to meet creepage and clearance requirements without barriers or empty space. TIW saves space in windings by allowing the use of the entire winding window, being able to wind bobbin wall to bobbin wall. With Rubadue Wire’s TIW no interwinding tape is required. These benefits reduce volume and the size of the bobbin footprint.
Safety is always of top concern. All of our TIW products are certified to IEC 60950-1. Also offered are TCA3 and our line of Tefzel® insulated products certified to 61558 and 60601.
TIW is used in medical applications where patient safety is the primary concern. UL safety standards require an isolation voltage of 4250 Volts. Rubadue TIW has no problem with this level.
Arc lamps require a high voltage pulse to excite the lamp during the lamps starting process. Typical peak voltages of 25,000V to 40,000V are required for this lamp. Rubadue Wire’s customers have successfully used our products and continue to in this application.
Insulation Systems certified to 1446 are available using our basic, supplemental and reinforced products with a variety of options for products available worldwide. In these systems, Rubadue Wire was tested as a ground so no further ground insulation is required.
Wire sizes are from 10 AWG to 40 AWG, using solid, stranded, or litz wire constructions.

One way to accomplish this in transformers is to use Rubadue Wire’s TIW. TIW may improve efficiency by 10% in some transformers with no other changes to the design.
